The oldest and most venerable shop in The Park, Footpad Heaven was established in 47 BZ as a stockist of replacement footpads and toepads. At that time, paw injuries were common among Animals, due to the unpaved roads (both inside and outside The Park), which were often strewn with glass and ceramic shards. Josiah Bandicoot, an immigrant sculptor who had dabbled in chemistry and aesthetics, answered the call for a more permanent treatment than was then available from the local practitioners. He opened his first tiny shop at the corner of a busy roadway and sold replacement toepads in only 2 sizes, large and small. Manufactured without the benefit of machinery by Bandicoot, himself, these early toepads were unsophisticated in shape and rough in texture, but they solved the immediate problem for the Animals who were most in need.

Many years and many paws later, Josiah Bandicoot’s shop now sits proudly on The Park’s main retail thoroughfare. His descendants maintain an active interest in the business and, several years ago, they expanded the shop’s inventory to include cutting-edge fashion and trendsetting accessories, in addition to the therapeutic products for which they are renowned.
